David Sanborn Trio feat. Joey De Francesco (SAT)
David Sanborn made his first guest appearance on David Bowie's Young Americans playing the saxophone – not a bad way to make an entrance. It is also impressive to know he began his musical career due to a doctor suggesting he played the saxophone as a tool against polio.
Sanborn can easily be ranked as one of the most renowned contemporary saxophonists, besides the more traditional jazz songs, he has participated in numerous dance and R & B recordings. He is known and liked for his passionate playing style and the headstrong high notes. They say it takes only two notes to recognize the David Sanborn sound.
Sanborn has been a highly regarded studio musician since 1960 and has played with a lot of famous artists such as Eric Clapton, Stevie Wonder, Paul Simon, Jaco Pastorius, Al Jarreau, George Benson, Donny Hathaway, Elton John, Gil Evans, Billy Joel, Mike Stern, Steely Dan and The Eagles to name a few.
