Angie Stone (SUN)

For three decades, the singer with the big voice has enchanted her fans, critics and the music world with her unquestionable talent and inexhaustible ability to innovate. Distinct gospel influenced soul music with a lot of weight and groove has always been characteristic of Stone’s sound and wherever she moves among her influences, she keeps that as a basis.

Reared with a Southern American gospel tradition, and later inspired by the massive soul wave of the 60s and 70s, Angie Stone has many strings to his bow. During her career she has touched on genres like rap, hip hop, R & B and jazz, to name a few. Her first two albums, "Black Diamond" and "Mahogany Soul" went gold in the U.S. and helped define the neo soul movement during the early 2000s.

Her latest album "Unexpected"; which is the second for legendary soul label Stax - sounds of styles and nuances within the urban music. Angie Stone has appeared at the Stockholm Jazz Festival twice before, in 2002 and 2004. Both these performances are among the most talked about and praised in the festival's history and we now think it is once again time for another memorable live show.

Line-up: Brandon Thomas - guitar, Khalid Rahmaad - drums, Demonterious Lawrence - bass, Carlos Simon - Keyboards, Danetra Moore - background vocals, Paula Champion - background vocals
